Spanish Conversation & Social Group
The Kent Spanish Speak conversation social group welcomes everybody – from 0 to native level. There is no pressure and it offers a great way to practise and network with other Hispanophiles.
The best way to learn, practise and stop language skills getting too rusty is immersion. A bit difficult in East Kent! So the Kent Spanish Speak social conversation group was born. We organise activities and seek out anything vaguely Hispanic or Spanish (mostly locally) such as films, music, restaurants, Spanish table football nights, wine tasting and talks as well as do conversation (mostly in the pub in Whitstable). We go farther afield for the really good stuff!
I also endeavour to obtain group discounts for example for the Flamenco Express show at The Horsebridge, Whitstable and Soul of Santana in Strode Park, Herne. We quite often choose restaurant nights in Canterbury and beyond when they have an offer on.
You do not need to be fluent to join-us! Beginners find it is a great way to listen and learn. We all help each other practise Spanish.
As a rule we stay away from grammar and serious study and discuss the items we bring along, such as jokes, expressions, topical articles, learning tips, quizzes etc. Chit chat is also always on the agenda.
Conversation practice evenings are generally every other Monday in Whitstable. Sometimes they involve a film night or special guest.
Event times and days obviously vary. A newsletter email let’s you know what’s on. To subscribe email KentSpanishSpeak@gmail.com and introduce yourself so we can welcome you onboard!
Thanks, Eleanor, I enjoyed myself Monday night. Thanks for the opportunity!
Really enjoyed the Spanish group last night and meeting you all. What lovely people and I certainly share your passion for this wonderful language! I look forward to the next meet up.
